Being the More Loving One with Journalist and Author, Judy Foreman

Judy Foreman’s life changes have happened through her journey from childhood abuse to empowerment. After an abusive childhood, Judy discovered the unyielding spirit that led her to peace.

In Judy’s latest book, Let The More Loving One Be Me, she takes us through a journey over 70 years covering her growth, deep fulfilment, rewarding work, and most wonderfully love. Through the power of emotional courage and therapy, she changed her inner and outer experience of the world and discovered what matters most, cultivating healthy connections with other people.

*A quick content advisory: Judy and Kristin do speak of the emotional and sexual abuse Judy suffered towards the beginning of the episode. If you feel you may find that difficult, forwarding to about 11 minutes in will allow you to more comfortably listen to our conversation.

Supporting Girls in Business – Treppie Founder, Jennifer Andrews

Jennifer Andrews was a speech therapist ready for something different. A gift from a young client provided the spark and led Jennifer to using her love of connection to found treppie.com

Coming Down to Earth with Novelist and Mother Who Makes, Matilda Leyser

Matilda Leyser is the author of No Season but the Summer, a novel that combines the Greek Persephone myth with modern day England, climate change, and, ultimately, a story about mother-daughter relationships.

But being a novelist is just one of her second chapter stories, after running away from words to join the circus (amongst other things!)

Matilda is a theatre-maker, writer and artistic director of Mothers Who Make. Prior to becoming a mother she worked for 10 years as a circus aerialist, collaborating with diverse theatre and dance companies and making her own work. She came down to earth in 2008 and became an Associate Director with Improbable. She became a mother in 2012 and considers motherhood, and her writing, to be far more dangerous endeavours than being a circus aerialist.

Never Too Late to Become a Money Wise Woman with Patricia Stallworth

In this, my last episode of season nine, I’m speaking with Patricia Stallworth. The subject of money is one that many of us are uncomfortable discussing, which is why I loved having Patricia as a guest!

After her own divorce, which led to some painful money realisations, Patricia now helps others, especially women, plan for their financial futures. Patricia made talking about financial planning fun, even for me, and lemme tell you, that is really saying something!

Patricia’s book, Become a Money Wise Woman in Six Simple Steps- Even If You’re Not Good at Math is free to download 2-4 June by clicking here: https://amzn.to/3Kr3I3h

If you’ve missed it, subscribe to her newsletter at www.psworth.com for tips & strategies sent to your inbox.

Season 10 starts 28th June – It’s also nearly time for my 100th episode, so stay tuned. I plan to celebrate!

From ‘Traumatic Overload’ to The Good Stripper, Marci Warhaft

‘Traumatic overload’ destroyed Marci Warhaft’s self-esteem and left her grasping for control – leading to years of eating disorders, promiscuity and doing things that she wasn’t proud of to survive.

In her book, The Good Stripper, Marci chronicles a double- or even triple- life: mother of two by day, stripper by night, and obsessed fitness fanatic in between. By taking back and owning her own story, Marci has found, after 50, a way back to the self she lost at 17.

Living the Green Fairytale, with Absinthia Vermut

Absinthia Vermut’s love for art history and unusual parties led her to an event in 1996, where she tried absinthe (illegally) for the first time.

Fast-forward to the legalisation of absinthe in the US and Absinthia is channeling her passion for the notorious “Green Fairy” into making award-winning small batch absinthe.

But she’s also doing things her own way, proudly striving for kindness and empathy, while leading the charge among women in the alcohol business.

A Comical Second Helping, Ex-Nun Kelli Dunham

Kelli Dunham is a standup comic, a registered nurse, an author, a storyteller, and… wait for it… an ex nun. Kelli’s website says, “I don’t know how all of this came together on a resume”, but I’ve done my best to find out, though there is so much beyond what we got to speak about*!

Having lost two partners between the ages of 38 and 43, Kelli is an expert on the intersections of art, grief and community- based caregiving, and presents across the US to healthcare providers about LGBT issues, LGBT health, and gender and health, using humour and the transformative power of first- person storytelling.

*Kelli’s website is a treasure trove- I’m annoyed at myself for not asking about their 2015 White House Champions of Change nominee (under the Obama administration)! You can find the site at: kellidunham.com

Grabbing Life By the Slice with Pizza Artist Miriam Weiskind

This week I’m speaking with pizza artist, Miriam Weiskind. Formerly a graphic designer… ahem, brand strategist… Miriam found a way to combine two of her greatest loves, running and pizza, in a way she never expected. It led to a totally new life of pizza tours, pizza paying it forward and pizza making, getting her through a bad break-up and the pandemic and leading to articles in the New York Times and appearances on Kelly Clarkson and Chopped (to name a few).

Miriam is an old friend whose story I’ve followed since my Brooklyn days, having known her through our triathlon club. Her change after 35 involves love, loss, giving back and a LOT of pizza.

For more on Miriam, check out: https://linktr.ee/thezareport

Munchies short film about Miriam can be seen here: https://youtu.be/6E0ilkXyamk

Writing Her Second Chapter, with Author Lyn Yeowart

Lyn Yeowart has been a writer for most of her career, but decided to go back for a creative writing master’s degree some 30 years after graduating with an education degree. But Lyn’s biggest change may have been something that was less to do with writing and career, and more to do with self and worth.

Lyn is the author of The Silent Listener. Propelling the reader back and forth between the 1940s, 1960s and 1980s, The Silent Listener is an unforgettable literary suspense novel set in the dark, gothic heart of rural Australia.

CW: Lyn and I do discuss childhood abuse, which may be upsetting to some listeners. As always, I try to discuss important topics like these with careful consideration and with the feelings of my guest and my listeners at heart. Lyn’s story is ultimately joyful and inspiring.

From Crisis Communication to a More Positive Story, Jane Griffin

Jane Griffin is a former BBC and ITN television and radio news reporter with over 25 years of combined experience in journalism, corporate communication, B2B PR, and crisis communication.

Thanks, in part, to a nudge from a former manager, Jane launched her own PR business, Positive Story – not just putting a positive spin on business-to-business PR but actively seeking companies who promote sustainable and ethical business practices and who share her values.

Jane and Kristin talk about why ‘having it all’ isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, the joys of living near the Euro Tunnel when you have a £1 employee fare, the amazing companies Jane’s helping to get the word out about and why it sometimes takes a good nudge to find your ideal career direction.
